To Kiss the World Through a Veil of Lead

Collection of 45 300-word short stories written in the second person exploring the experiences and sensations of hypothetical non-human beings.

Fifteen of these short stories were converted into algorithmically-generated soundscapes exhibited on Wait for Cue at Shelter, in Amsterdam (NL), and De School X Telemagic, also in Amsterdam (NL).

Extracts

  1. The upper half of your body is an exploded firework of hardy stalks. In the tip of each extremity, you harbour foetal versions of yourself. You feel their subdued heartbeats propagating in your veins until they reach your core.

  2. Acid droplets fall from the sky of a rock in a distant solar system; you can see the burnt dark blotches multiplying on the surface of a yellow stone. You are here.

  3. Your secretions mix with dirt; limbs now brush against each other as the spiral tightens. Tactical action becomes paramount.
